Souvenirs d'Amérique : Letters of Adolphe de Bacourt to the Duchesse de Dino, 1840-1842.

THe letters are transcriptions written by Dorothea, Duchesse de Dino, later Duchesse de Sagan, with annotations by de Bacourt. De Bacourt narrates his daily life in Washington, as French minister to the United States, and his travels through the country. The second volume contains copies of printed sources describing the economy and society of the United States. With the volumes are an edited translation, 1985, by Arthur B. Scharff, and four letters concerning the translation.
